In the meantime, Princess and I will stick to singing the dreidel song! For those of you who want to sing along, here are the words.
I have a little dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!
(Chorus)
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!
It has a lovely body
With legs so short and thin
And when my dreidel's tired
It drops and then I win!
(Chorus)
My dreidel's always playful
It loves to dance and spin
A happy game of dreidel
Come play now, let's begin!
(Chorus)
Today we read The Hanukkah Story by Marilyn Hirsh, which recounts the Hanukkah story. We loved it so much we ordered a copy of our own. It is out of print, but we found an old copy on Amazon.

Love the dreidel song! I was talking about Hanukkah to my German teacher and she was all what's Hanukkah I don't know this! I was are you kidding me so I gave her my best description and told her to google it. Hello how does someone in this world not know Hanukkah. Question how come it has two spellings with a C and without?
Seriously?! I am stunned that a woman in Germany doesn't know what Hanukkah is! Things must have changed a lot since my friend at Such Lovely Freckles grew up there.
So the reason for the spelling difference...
You know how in German you have that sound in the throat, kind of like at the end of blech when something tastes horrible? Well, the Hebrew pronunciation of Hanukkah has that CH sound in the throat. Instead of starting it with a 'H' sound, you start it with the 'CH' sound. Man that's hard to explain without saying it out loud. Did that make any sense?
So very cute! I don't know much about MP3s and always have my boys do that kind of stuff for me.
Barenaked Ladies rock.
Tami, maybe I should ask Princess to help me out. ;)
Yes, SMT, Barenaked Ladies do rock! LK keeps telling me there is so much more music we need to aquire. I guess he's right. I'll add Barenaked Ladies to the list.
