I'm following this meme from Kelly over at
Heathen Family Revival. This is something that poses a bit of a challenge for me. I grew up wearing makeup. I started at 12 or 13 and wore makeup practically every day of my life up until about a year ago when the influence of my non-makeup friends got me to stop wearing makeup. I was makeup free for a long time, maybe 6 months or more. Then one day we got dressed up for a night out and I put on the makeup and thought that I looked so much better. Now I'm back to wearing makeup again.
The day before I read Kelly's post, Princess and I had a conversation about makeup and I pointed out that a lot of our friends don't wear makeup. Princess suggested that I try not wearing any, too. I skipped it the next day and Prnicess told me that I looked beautiful.
I don't want her to think that she needs to wear makeup. The point of this meme is to show our kids that we are beautiful just as we are. Can I find a way to see myself as beautiful without?
I was going to take a new picture of me without makeup, but I've been wanting to post this and just haven't taken a new picture. I found this one and looking at it, huh, I think I look pretty good.

I think you look beautiful! I only wear occasional eye liner...probably should wear more. My husband actually prefers no make up makes it easier. Have a wonderful Monday!
I think you look great without makeup! When I quit wearing it, I had a very similar experience as you. I put some on one day for pictures or something, and I thought I looked so much better. But as time went by, and I'd put on the occasional makeup, I started to see that I didn't look necessarily better - I just looked like me wearing makeup. And I still put some on for pictures (or seeing my friends from high-school! LOL!)
Thank you, Frau! LK doesn't prefer no makeup, but he doesn't prefer makeup either. He has always been okay with whatever I want to do and thinks I'm beautiful either way.
Marla, thank you! And you've seen me in more than just that one photo without makeup. The thing that made it really difficult was that not only did I notice it, I had more than one person comment about how beautiful I looked on the day I was in full makeup. :/ That was the final thing that convinced me that I needed it. Because when I look in the mirror, I see a huge difference. Maybe I need to get a new mirror. ;)
You look great.
You don't need any make-up. ;)
Thanks SMT.
Thanks for saying that Kelly. There has been an interesting conversation on Facebook about the different views of makeup. Is it any different than polish on your toe nails or a pretty top? I think that there is a difference. I'm curious what others think.
Look pretty good???
You look mahvalleous!!! You have such bright eyes, great complexion and a gorgeous smile.
I wore a lot of makeup from my mid teens to my mid twenties and then gave it up.
I'm finding though that lately I feel much better going out with it on. My complexion seems to have gotten worse over the years.
:)
See! That's a lot of my issue. I am aging and makeup hides that a little...not much though...so is it really necessary. LK says he doesn't look at the separate parts of me. He sees the whole package and that package is beautiful. I look at my face and wish it was more beautiful. Crap! I still have stuff to work on. :/
I think you look beautiful! And, happy I get to see your face so I can recognize you at LIG! My daughter is having fun with make-up right now...I don't wear it anymore, or at least not very often. I do like that it evens out my skin when I wear it though, cause I have a lot of sun damage. But, I feel quite happy with or without it!
Thank you, Mandy! I love that you have such a healthy attitude about makeup! I'll figure it out one of these days...
I look forward to meeting you at LIG!!
