Flashback

I dropped Princess off at art class and drove off to pick up milk and eggs. These items are, of course, in opposite directions. I turned on the radio and listened for a while, flipping stations in an effort to find something I wanted to listen to. For a long time I was unsuccessful.

I changed from the stations saved in 'A' to 'B' and found 105.9 "The Brew". The radio display showed 10,000... Well, I knew the song was not 10,000 Maniacs. It turns out they are playing 10,000 songs with no commercial interruption. Okay...sounds good to me, I hate commercials.

I turn the music up and realize I am listening to Def Leppard, Foolin'. I turn it up. Nope, not loud enough. I turn it up some more. Still not good enough, so I turn it up some more. Yeah, maybe a little more Suddenly, I'm not a 44 year old mom driving down the road in a mini-van. I'm 17 and I'm cruising on a beautiful day. Windows open. Wind in my hair. Music BLARING.

Def Leppard was followed by Joan Jett, Boston, Queen, Van Halen and well, you get the point.

I invite you to your very own flashback. Be sure to turn up the volume to LOUD.

Too cool! I find that driving with teens and preteens is somewhat similar lol. Turns out I already know all the words to their favorite songs because they are all cover tunes of *my* favorite songs from teenhood. You know it's bad when your 8 yo and your 14 tell you to turn the radio down or the van in the lane next to you looks at you funny because the music is blaring from yours lol.

Thanks for sharing.

Momma Bear, thank you for your comment. I take that as a big copliment. :)

Gina & BB, Princess is just starting to get into rock music. It's all my fault. I should have kept listening to it instead of The Wiggles. She's not ready for me to blast it yet. I think it might be a while.

Evonne, the station is awesome. I wonder how long 10,000 songs takes. I'm ready for my hearing test.

Lisa, I'm sure I was entertaining. I actually tried to not pull up next to people with their windows open while stopped in traffic.

SMT, this day reminded me how much I love Def Leppard and now I've got to go get some CDs.

Frau, LOL about the lighter...but oldies? Really?! Oldies to me means stuff from the 50s. That's the 1950s. ;)

Thanks a lot. Now my spouse is playing this in the house. These are all the songs from the 80's that I've been striving to forget.
