Packing and Purging

The packing has begun and I'm wondering, do I really have to do this? I am absolutely amazed at how much crap we have. We spent a good part of Sunday going through a dozen boxes that haven't been opened since we moved back to Oregon from Georgia when Princess was one!

You'd think that anything in there we don't need since we haven't seen it in four and a half years, but there are some things we simply can't do without.

I used to scrapbook a lot and I have lots of really cool scrapbook supplies. I am convinced that one day I will scrapbook again (really I am) so I am keeping all this stuff.

There are some other things as well, but I have to admit we are not really pack rats at heart. There is A LOT of stuff, boxes and boxes in fact, that are going to Goodwill. It feels good to purge.

Doesn't it? I just went through all of the exta dishes I had stored in boxes. I got rid of all of my chipped broken, just plain sick-of-it everyday dishes. Gave a whole set away to a friend and threw the rest.

Happy packing!

I'm making a list of things to do for the month of April. Yes, indeed, a to-do list! Yikes. But the fact is, we will be staying in this house for a while, and I want to get rid of some stuff and enjoy living here again. And right now I'm not enjoying it much, because it's too cluttered and disorganized.

You got out the scrapbooking stuff... Yipee!! :)

I love purging. It always feels so good. It was amazing how much cr*p I could get rid of once I decided I wasn't going to teach classes anymore. Shelves and shelves of stuff. Yay.

Good luck with the move. (I hate moving with a passion.)

I so need to purge too. Just need to find some energy.

I love to go through our stuff and get rid of as much as possible.

Unfortunately, Hubby is the opposite and more often than not my attempts to de-clutter and purge lead to a butting of heads.

And yeah, it never ceases to amaze me how much junk we have and how fervently he can argue that we "might one day" need it.

But it does indeed feel good to unburden yourself from all that stuff.

You know, I don't think we could ever leave this house because my husband and I could never bear the thought of all the packing and purging we'd have to do to empty it! :)

My mom and I used to move every year and I still hate the task. There are some good things though-- you get to start fresh with a clean house to unpack things into, you have to purge, you're forced to at least pretend to put things in order... and there is such a thrill in moving into a brand new place.

I hope the packing goes quickly and as easily as possible!

The scrapbook stuff is out and organized. Maybe I'll even be able to set it all up after we unpack.

We've been putting this purge off for 4 1/2 years. It's time and it does feel good.

Freckle, just say the word and I'll be over to help...after we're moved and unpacked.

Don't give up scrapbooking! It is something your children will treasure when they are older. It is also nice to look back on fond memories. :-)

t. I do need to get back into scrapbooking. Maybe now that the kids play so well on their own, Freckle and I can start scrapbooking during playdates. What d'ya think, Freckle?

Scrapbooking supplies are also wonderful for making lapbooks with the kids. I'm not a scrapbooker but my friends pass me their extra supplies to use for our schoolwork. My daughter loves all the pretty papers and cool stencils lol.

I need to learn more about lapbooking!

The sorting and purging is done. 12boxes has gone down to about 4. Yay!
