Out Of the Dark Ages

The last video game system I had was Atari back in the early 80s. Remember “Pong” and “Space Invaders”? Yes, it’s true. I had played no video games since then. To be honest, my husband and I talked about it and decided that it was highly unlikely that we ever would get one. He had concerns about becoming obsessed with it and honestly he doesn’t have the time to sit around playing video games, but then, who does? I, well, I just never had a desire. The little Princess plays online games and computer games all the time so she has been fine with our decision. Well, she didn’t really know we made a decision, but she didn’t know about video games other than on the computer.

I started to change my feelings about video games when I heard about the Wii Fit. Nothing really came of it and I moved on (sort of). Then my sister and her boyfriend got a Wii and brought it over to play during Hanukkah. Princess LOVED it! My husband and I sorta dug it, too.

The thing we like about the Wii is that it isn’t a traditional video game where you stare at a screen with that glazed look on your face, pressing buttons. This video game is active! You move! Yes! So we are now the proud owners of the Wii and Wii Fit. We just bought We Ski and some pirate game (pirates are very popular in our house) from the used Wii game shelf at the store on Sunday. We need some more game ideas though! We are definitely more interested in the active ones that a princess and fairy loving 5 year old would like, too. Any suggestions?

My mom offered to buy us a wii for Christmas but I said "Oh no, that's too expensive, besides I don't want my kids hooked on video games." That was stupid, instead I got some crappy dishes that aren't microwave safe. Should have gone with the wii. Although, I have heard that the bowling game is fun.

We play the sports games that with our console, all the time. Just be careful you don't punch your daughter in the head when bowling a strike.

Not that I did that...

Really, she's fine...

LOL... what is it you like to say to me? "You got sucked in by it... You're going down with the rest of us." *insert evil maniacal laugh here*

I'm going to be the last one on the planet without a Wii, aren't I.

Aliceson, I'm so sorry to hear that. Maybe next year? Oh, I tried We Ski tonight. OH MY GOSH! It was so much fun!!! And I was finally undizzy (is that a word) enough to try Wii Fit. I think I can actually have fun working out now!

Kelly, NO! You did not. And I've NEVER done that either. ;) My daughter does this crazy move to throw the ball and gets strikes and spares ALL THE TIME. I try the way she bowls and get gutter balls. Go figure.

Freckle, yes I've been sucked in.

And Rooster X, you will indeed be the last human on Earth without a Wii. I'm so sorry. ;P
